Grain producers from Ruse – members of the Regional Farmer Union - "Dunavsko zurno" arrived at a two-day working visit at the European Parliament in Brussels on 13th and 14th of November 2013. During the visit, Preslav Borissov MEP had organized a meeting with the coordinator of the EPP Group at Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development in the European Parliament - Mr. Albert Dess ( MEP from Germany ) and Pekka Pesonen , Secretary General of Copa-Cogeca (the European Association for farmers and agri-cooperatives)

Preslav Borissov MEP invites citizens of Dobrich and Rousse to the European Parliament

A group of visitors from Dobrich and Rousse visited the European Parliament in Brussels at the invitation of the MEP Preslav Borissov (EPP / GERB) on 13 and 14 November, 2013. They were introduced to the functions and activities of the institution through a lecture "Introduction to the structure and work of the European Parliament " provided by the department of visits and seminars in the EP. They also had the opportunity to learn more about the work of the Bulgarian MEPs from the EPP (GERB) group, what their daily duties in Brussels are and what issues they work on.

The Committee on Internal Market and Consumer Protection voted in favor of “made in”

On 17th of October, the members of the Committee on Internal Market and Consumer Protection voted the legislation proposed by the European Commission about the safety of non-food products, a legislation in which 353 amendments were made by the MEPs.

The main point of the disagreement was article 7, which forces the producers to label the country of origin, so the identification and traceability of the products can be improved.

Bulgarian MEP Preslav Borissov (GERB / EPP) addressed the European Commission with a written question about the problems faced by road transport businesses involved in transportation between the EU and Turkey
The reason for the request of the Bulgarian MEP was the introduced by the Turkish government on September 1, 2013 fee of € 3,000 for transporting goods with "improper" permits and the frequent complaints of Bulgarian carriers that their trucks are detained by the Turkish authorities, in violation of the international conventions and the established practices.

European Parliament approves proposals to measure indirect emissions from biofuels production after 2020 and cap levels of crop-based fuels
After fierce discussions in the Plenary on Monday, at its meeting on Wednesday the European Parliament swung a tight vote and capping conventional biofuels production was approved by 352 to 343. It was stated that biofuels cannot contribute more than six per cent towards the bloc's 2020 total usage of transport energy from renewable sources.

Happy holiday Dobrich!

Today, 25th of September – on the Day of Dobrich, Preslav Borissov MEP (EPP / GERB) laid a wreath at the Military Cemetery in the city, where a memorial service was given in honor of the people sacrificed their lives for the freedom of South Dobroudja. On the wreath with large letters was written "European Parliament” as a tribute to the institution which Mr. Borissov represents.

Bulgarian MEP Preslav Borissov opens a new Information office in Silistra

On 5th of October, 2013, MEP Preslav Borisov (GERB) is opening a new Information office in the town of Silistra.

The official opening will be at 10 a.m., starting with a meeting at Danube Hotel on 1 Svoboda Square, where Mr. Borissov will present to the guests his work in the European Parliament and will introduce them to the basic features of the new information office.

Celebrating the Day of Dobrich

Celebrating the Day of Dobrich
On 25th of September Dobrich will celebrate its official holiday. Historically, on this day in 1940 Dobrich became part of the territory of Bulgaria again, after the signing of the Treaty of Craiova, which enforced the returning of South Dobroudja within the borders of the country. Celebrating the day of the city on 25th of September has started in 1990, when the 50th anniversary of the accession of Southern Dobroudja to Bulgaria was officially marked and the old name of the town – Dobrich - was restored by a Decree of the President of the Republic of Bulgaria.
