The Committee is responsible for:

  1. Matters relating to the development of a common policy for rail, road, inland waterway, maritime and air transport, in particular:
    (a) Common rules applicable to transport within the European Union,
    (b) The establishment and development of trans-European networks in the area of transport infrastructure,
    (c) The provision of transport services and relations in the field of transport with third countries,
    (d) Transport safety,
    (e) Relations with international transport bodies and organisations;
  2. Postal services;
  3. Tourism.

European Parliament approves proposals to measure indirect emissions from biofuels production after 2020 and cap levels of crop-based fuels
After fierce discussions in the Plenary on Monday, at its meeting on Wednesday the European Parliament swung a tight vote and capping conventional biofuels production was approved by 352 to 343. It was stated that biofuels cannot contribute more than six per cent towards the bloc's 2020 total usage of transport energy from renewable sources.

The Bulgarian MEP Preslav Borissov (GERB / EPP) participated in an interactive debate on the role of two-wheel vehicles in achieving sustainable and innovative transport systems in urban areas
The debate took place on 18 September at the European Parliament building in Brussels and brought together representatives of the European institutions, business and academia, and various civic organizations. The event was part of a series of initiatives in the framework of the European Mobility Week, which took place between 16 and 22 September this year and it has focused on the impact of transport on air quality in urban areas.

European Mobility Week will be held between 16 and 22 September
Over 2000 European towns and cities are expected to participate in the 12th edition of the European Mobility Week, which will take place between 16 and 22 September under the slogan ‘Clean air – It’s your move!”. The annual campaign on sustainable urban mobility is organized by the Secretariat of the European organization with the political and financial support of DG 'Environment' and DG 'Transport' of the European Commission.
